F.A.Q.s

Question
The general help file is still present even when CONTORT is terminated ?

Answer
CONTORT launches the help file as a seperate stand-alone program, it does not in any way terminate them. The advantage is that more than one aspect of the help file can be opened at any one time for seperate viewing. The disadvantage is that they have to be explicitly terminated when CONTORT terminates.

Question
What image file formats can CONTORT deal with ?

Answer
The image formats for loading and saving are BMP,JPEG,PNG,TIF,TGA,PCX. In addition contort can load a gif file.

Question
When saving in bitmap format, what type does CONTORT save ?

Answer
CONTORT always saves bitmaps as 24 bit color regardless of how much or little information is in the destination image.

Question
When saving a destination image is the size of that image limited to the real estate of the screen ?

Answer
This is a limitation of CONTORT but if you increase your screen definition then that can be reflected in the file you save.

Question
Whats the point of opening a blank second source image ?

Answer
You can merge this to the destination by copy X only. Carry out your special effects or whatever on that destination blank image. Send it back to the same blank source thereby overwriting it. Now merge your two images back to the destination. See the help file for a particular example on this feature.

Question
I trashed all of my work in the destination image when I simply scrolled a source window. Is that fair ?

Answer
There is no 'undo' function in CONTORT. Please save your work at regular intervals but note the warnings that may show. Remember the special discipline with CONTORT that a change to a source window can be anything such as scrolling resizing etc. If what you see in that window changes then that is regarded as a change. There is the option to 'lock' the destination window which prevents updates with source image scrolling and resizing. See the help file for details.
